About Bo-Kaap
Brightly painted houses climbing Signal Hill, the country's oldest mosque, and the birthplace of Cape Malay cooking. It is also, first and foremost, somebody's home.
Hosted by people who live here
Every one of our guides either lives in Bo-Kaap or is from the community. That is the whole point. You get the stories that don't make the guidebooks, an introduction to the families who cook the food, and a visit that treats the neighbourhood with respect.
We work only with BTA approved local suppliers — guides, drivers and hosts from the area — so the money you spend here stays here.

Islamic heritage
Bo-Kaap holds South Africa's oldest mosque and centuries of Muslim history at the Cape. Our heritage tours are led by guides from the community itself.
Cape Malay food
South Africa's national cuisine started in these kitchens. Taste it where it was invented — cooked by home cooks, not a restaurant chain.
The painted streets
The colours have a story, and it isn't the one most visitors are told. Our guides will tell you the real one, on Chiappini and Rose Street.
